Bouncing Ball

    The Bouncing Ball animation is a fantastic place for every animator to begin. It is one of the most simple animations to use nearly all of the principles of animation. You can see Squash and Stretch, Anticipation, Arc, Timing, Exaggeration and Solid Drawing. I remember being quite happy with this simple animation, I've always done 3D animations in the past and 2D truly seemed so foreign to me. It was nice to worry about 2 axis instead of 3 but I did find that it's much more challenging to try and maintain a solid shape that doesn't grow throughout the animation.

  Platform Pendulum     This animation was another great exercise to get myself familiar used to the software that we are using in class. This time I faced some of the same issues as the bouncing ball, you can see the ball at the bottom of the pendulum changing sizes from the beginning. However, I did learn that you can have a mix of drawn shapes, and pre-built shapes using the software. I can see this saving lots of time while doing animation, instead of trying to draw a perfect rectangle a few dozen times, you can copy and paste. However, that could be an issue if you are drawing something more organic like a person, or clothing.

Dialogue

  Dialogue     The primary focus of this animation was meant to be on the character and how they can deliver lines from some sort of dialogue. In honor of one of my all time favorite tv shows I almost immediately thought of the Office and Michael Scott, because of his thousands of lines to pick from. I believed that I could find humor in this sound. I was more focused on making sure that the mouth was synced up with the audio than spending crazy amounts of time worrying about creating a beautiful character. However, I think we can all relate with the horror that this character has faced in the animation above.

 About Me         Hello and welcome to my blog for 2D animation 1! This course will be my first experience with 2D animation outside of some small sketches that I've done in the past. I'm currently attending the University of Tampa and I'm on track to receive my degree in computer animation in roughly a year! I've done primarily 3D animation in the past and am quite familiar with programs like Maya, 3DS Max, Mudbox, and Substance Painter.
